Alcohol Policy
Brockport Auxiliary Services Corporation holds the only
New York State liquor license on The College at Brockport
campus. With this license BASC
Catering accepts the responsibility for promoting and maintaining positive
use of alcohol at all events where alcohol is served in addition to conforming
to all New York State Liquor Authority laws pertaining to on-premise licenses.
Cooper Hall is covered by the liquor license.
All areas outside of Cooper Hall require a special temporary caterer's
permit from the New York State Liquor authority when alcohol is to be
served. These permits require a minimum of 28 working
days notice to the catering office and additional cost of $45.00, which
is passed on to each customer. Permit
fees are not refundable if the event is canceled.
The New York State Liquor license does not allow
alcoholic beverages to be brought by private parties.
All alcoholic beverage served at events must be obtained and served
by a catering bartender. Food and
non-alcoholic beverages must always be provided where alcohol is being
served. Alcoholic beverages may
not be taken from the service area.
On-campus clubs and organizations must comply
with The College at Brockport guidelines.
No one under the age of 21 will be allowed to
purchase or consume alcohol at a BASC event.
Two forms of identification, including one picture ID, will be
required for proof of age. No one
under the age of 21 may sign a contract for services involving alcohol.
At any event if anyone is found to have provided an alcoholic beverage
to an underage customer, all bar privileges will be suspended immediately
for the event and the University Police will be notified.
To assure compliance with BASC alcohol policy,
the person or organization which contracts with BASC's
catering services shall designate at the time BASC's
services are booked, the name of one or more persons who shall be licensed
to drive a motor vehicle for use at the event. That person shall not consume
alcohol before or during the event and shall identify themselves to the
manager on duty of the beginning of the event.
If in the opinion of the bartender or manager, a person attending
the event is under the influence of alcohol, the bartender or manager
shall notify the designated person who shall be responsible for the safe
conduct or transportation of that guest from the event to their home or
another safe place. If the designated person fails to cooperate, the manager
will at the expense of the organization booking the event, obtain an escort
for the guest and all bar privileges for the event will be suspended immediately.
All parties booking an event in which alcohol
will be served will be required to review this policy and sign a statement.
