Project Description

Harrison Dining Hall is being transformed from a traditional all-you-care-to-eat foodservice operation into a premier facility offering a contemporary dining experience. As the latest SUNY Brockport dining area to be completely revamped, Harrison is being renovated in both design and cuisine. This renovation work will take the dining hall back to the four walls and includes code compliance improvements, upgrading of building systems, and interior enhancements of the kitchen and dining facilities.

The newly renovated Harrison Dining Hall will be much more open in design with several dining stations replacing the two traditional straight-line food counters. These distinct food stations will range from Mediterranean to International to American/regional cuisine, and each will feature its own theme and menu selections. Customers can expect traditional favorites like fresh dough pizza from an earth stone oven, burgers hot off the grill, and specialty made-to-order wraps and sandwiches, in addition to new menu items like mouth-watering stir-fries and restaurant-style entrées. The new servery will showcase the kitchen, highlight fresh and often made to order entrees, and allow customers to interact with the foodservice professionals. The modern design incorporates a palette of earth tones with a few splashes of bright colors like cobalt blue and fire engine red.

What to Expect this Fall

BASC Dining Services has collaborated with campus administration, Campus Life, and BSG to develop an alternative dining location to best meet our students' needs in the early fall when Harrison is closed due to the renovation. The collaborative plan is to utilize the ballroom in Seymour College Union as a temporary all-you-care-to-eat dining location.

The ballroom will be the all-you-care-to-eat dining hall option for the freshman Mondays - Thursdays for lunch and dinner, and for lunch on Fridays. Brockway has been designated as the upper-classman dining hall, providing our returning students with a familiar environment for them to dine, although they may eat in the ballroom if they choose. Brockway will be the designated dining hall and Union Square Food Court will be the retail operation open on the weekends, serving both freshman and upperclassman. Aerie Café, Courtside, Hartwell Café and Jitterbugs Café will remain open, some with extended hours. It is expected that TRAX will remain open for the duration of the project, and will be opening daily at 11 am (an hour earlier) to help serve lunch patrons.

Despite the best made efforts to provide alternate dining locations, with our largest dining hall off-line, it is expected that lines may be longer than normal. Dining Services is recommending that on-campus students consider purchasing either the Traditional or Titanium dining plans , as these will provide students with the flexibility to eat at any location on campus.

Harrison Dining Hall will reopen when students return from mid-semester break on Wednesday, October 17. Thursday, October 11 is the last scheduled day that meals will be served out of the Ballroom (temporary dining location) in the Seymour College Union. Beginning October 12 freshmen will be able to dine in Brockway Dining Hall or any other location. Starting Wednesday, October 17, "normal," pre-renovation serving hours for all dining locations will resume. For these "normal" hours and for a complete schedule of operations over mid-semester break, please click here. BASC expects to turn the Ballroom back over to Campus Life after the close of business on Friday, October 12.
