-
What WE are doing…
- Offer drivers a RideShare tool to make the task of searching for driving partners easy! SHARE A RIDE, NOT A PASS!
- Students (Brockport main campus and Metro) register for the RideShare Program here. (John, please insert link)
- Employees can Register for RideShare Program
- Welcome Center & Parking Services has purchased a hybrid vehicle

- In regards to the Special Event & Recreation Center (SERC), we are supportive to the campus’ goal to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) requirements. Parking spaces will not be added.
- Bike patrol – parking attendants are encouraged to utilize the bike donated by University Police.
- Walk Bike Week - This annual event co-sponsored by Welcome Center & Parking Services encourages the campus and village community to give their cars a rest and walk or bike to their designation.
- Our parking lot greeters deter vehicular backup and idling.
- Landscape day - several years ago we sponsored a landscape day and sought out volunteers to spruce up the landscape at the Conrad Welcome Center.
- We provide and encourage the use of our e-Parking online services to reduce the use of paper.
- We are committed to promoting and encouraging healthy living. Our staff gets fully involved in the campus’ yearly “Eat Well, Live Well” campaign.
- We encourage use of shuttle services.
- Many of our notices are emailed instead using paper.
- Our office uses rechargeable batteries.
- We shut down computers when they are not in use.
- We recycle paper, bottles, and cans.
- Promote NYS-Ride. This is a new program available to all NYS employees (except bargaining units 21 and 31 - Security Services) beginning July 2, 2008. The program allows employees to have pre-tax deductions made from their paycheck to reduce the out-of-pocket costs of using public transportation to commute. To view the fact sheet/summary I have created regarding this program, please visit: http://www.brockport.edu/hr/Benefits/Fringe%20Benefits/NYSRide.pdf
To view full details, please visit the NYS-Ride web page at www.nysride.com or contact the program directly at phone number 1-866-428-7781.
- Beginning January 30 Welcome Center & Parking Services will close on 5 pm on Fridays to help the campus save on energy costs.
What more can WE do?
- We are looking into the possibility of offering a formal car pool program for students with more incentives! Stay tuned…
- Encourage more customers to use our e-Parking program. (Online tool to purchase a permit, pay citations and manage their parking account).
What YOU can do…
- Share a ride with a buddy. Please do not share a parking pass!
- Change light bulbs to compact florescent bulbs. They are more energy efficient.
- Turn down the thermostat 1 degree in the winter and up 1 degree in the summer
- Use power management to put computers to sleep when they are not in active use.
- Buy recycled products such as 100% post consumer waste paper, remanufactured printer/toner cartridges, post it notes, scissors, and file folders.
- Purchase Solo cups. They are recyclable.
- Buy things in bulk to reduce packaging and waste.
- Share all this information with fellow students and faculty. Knowledge is power. Ignorance is bliss.
