Who is eligible for a Carpool Permit (CP)?
Participants must be current students, faculty or staff of The College at Brockport, have similar class or work schedules, and reside in approximately the same area. Before you apply, determine if you reside close enough to use alternate methods of transportation (i.e. walk, bike, regional transportation). Those living within one mile of campus are not eligible for a Carpool Permit. During the spring 2010 semester, each vehicle is still required to be properly registered with Welcome Center & Parking Services.

Rules and criteria for carpool groups
- Each participant must be a member of the Rideshare Program.
- Only one Carpool Permit (CP) will be issued for each carpool, as defined herein.
- A carpool consists of two (2) or more persons riding together in the same vehicle.
- Any vehicle parked in violation of the carpool rules will be subject to a citation and/or towing. No notice will be given prior to towing. Violators will be required to pay the towing and all related charges, and carpool privileges may be revoked at the discretion of the College. At that time, the CP must immediately be returned to Welcome Center & Parking Services.
- A holder of a CP must return the permit at any time that their carpool group cannot comply with this Agreement.
- The CP must be clearly and prominently displayed at all times. During the spring 2010 semester, the College issued permit must also be displayed.
- The College does not guarantee a premium carpool space to every CP holder at a given time. If a carpool space is not available, the holder must park in a lot designated by the assigned CP.
- CP holders may NOT use a carpool-only parking space when not operating as a valid carpool as defined herein.
- Student Carpool Permits expire at the end of each semester. Once a carpool is formed for the new semester, submit new carpool application and signed agreement forms. Faculty/staff Carpool Permits are valid for an academic year.
- What happens if someone is sick or late or I need to drive separately one day?
Be sure to share home, work, and cell phone numbers so that you can communicate in the event of an illness or mechanical problems. Carry this information with you. Be mindful of others and give as much advance warning as possible. Beginning fall 2010, on the days you need to drive separately, you may use a day pass issued to you at time of sign-up. Each carpool member will receive 8-day passes per semester.
- What if my riding partner leaves early unexpectedly?
It’s best to plan for the unexpected. Familiarize yourself with local public transportation. In the event of an emergency, call 395-PARK (7275) (during office hours) and a cab from the Taxi on Demand priority list would be called.
- Can we share a parking pass?
Beginning fall 2010, campus permits are not required for approved carpoolers. You will receive a carpool permit to share amongst your group. However, during the spring 2010 semester, each vehicle still is required to be properly registered with Welcome Center & Parking Services.
- If I am no longer interested, can I opt out?
Yes. You may opt out by logging in to the Rideshare Program and going to "Housekeeping Stuff" from the dropdown menu. If a member of the carpool group no longer wants to participate and they are in possession of a CP, the CP must be returned to the Conrad Welcome Center immediately.
- How will it be monitored?
To reduce abuses, parking lot attendants will monitor the vehicle(s) parked in premium carpool spaces to ensure that they are in compliance. Those vehicles not in compliance will be cited and/or towed. Parking privileges may be revoked.
